Tom Bollinger was a 1961 graduate of Seymour High School and was a multi-sport athlete for the Owls in football, track, basketball and wrestling.

In football, Tom was a three-year varsity letter winner. As a senior, he scored a team high 70 points in helping the Owls to a 5-4 record. He was named the team MVP, was selected as the Most Outstanding Player, was named to the All-South Central Conference team and was a co-captain. As a junior, Tom led the Owls in scoring with 66 points and was selected the team’s Most Valuable Player. As a sophomore, he scored 7 points and helped Seymour to a 7-3 record. When he graduated, Tom’s career point total of 143 was the fourth highest in Seymour High School football history. And he had the honor of scoring the final Seymour touchdown at Emerson Field against Southport on October 17, 1959.

In track, he was a four-year varsity letter winner for the Owls. As a senior, Tom scored a team high 174 points in helping Seymour to a 6-2 record, third place in the South Central Conference and third in the sectional. He set the school record in the low hurdles and won that race in the SCC meet and in the sectional. He was the team’s Most Valuable Runner. As a junior, Tom scored 105 points and helped the Owls to a 6-1 record and a fourth place finish in the sectional.

He was a varsity letter winner in basketball for the Owls during his junior year and helped the team to a 14-11 record, sectional championship and regional runner-up.

As a senior, Tom was a varsity letter winner for the school’s first wrestling team under Coach Walt Wintin. He helped lead the Owls to an 8-4 record and was selected team captain and Most Valuable Wrestler.

Tom was selected as Seymour High School’s Most Outstanding Athlete in 1961. He went on to letter in football at DePauw University.
